Days 84–96: The California Reset and a New Anthem
Sometimes, the best thing you can do for a creative project is to step away from the desk. After a solid stretch of writing and releasing, I took the last week to head south to California to visit family and recharge.
The Power of the Break
Driving down from Portland was exactly what I needed. For about a week, I put down the instruments and picked up a notebook. While I wasn't tracking full demos, I spent that time letting new ideas breathe. I wrote several sets of lyrics inspired by the change of scenery—words that likely wouldn't have come to me sitting in the same room I've been in since January.
The Re-Entry: New Single Alert
Coming back to the studio today, I felt a renewed sense of purpose. I’m kicking off this next phase by uploading a brand-new single to DistroKid for a April 17th release.
The title says it all: "I Didn’t Come This Far To Only Come This Far."
It’s a mantra for this entire year-long commitment. When the fatigue sets in or the administrative side of the industry gets heavy, this is the reminder I need. We are 96 days into 2026, and the momentum is only building.
Catalog Audit:
Current Song Total: 71
The Reset: 7 days of lyric writing and mental recharge in California.
New Release: "I Didn’t Come This Far To Only Come This Far" — Coming 4/17.
Milestone: Passing the 1/4 mark of the 2026 Project with 71 completed tracks.
About The 2026 Project
The 2026 Project is a year-long commitment to the discipline of daily creation. Throughout 2026, I am writing one song every single day to build a diverse, high-caliber catalog for artists, publishers, and film/TV. It’s a journey of exploring new sounds, refining my craft, and proving that the best way to find the next great song is to write through the ones that came before it.
