Behind the 5th single, “Social Speedia” (dropping 1/23/26)

At the risk of wanting to just say, “it’s pretty self explanatory” I wanted to give a bit more context for my new single, “Social Speedia” that’s dropping on 1/23/26. The final single I’m releasing before the new album, Dire Consequences releases on 2/6.

Having had a successful 10-year career as a professional copywriter, I think the talk all around AI has overshadowed the damage (or how much we’ve been groomed) from social media.

For me, personally, the “doomscrolling” is real…

Before getting back on social media, after deleting everything I was on, to see how important it is to get my current music out there to the right people. Which still, the jury is out on, if social media really works anymore to reach the people we want. Or it’s just a ploy to keep us from living, and having any sort of real life, off of it.

It’s a drug.

Social Speedia” is a song about the drug that is social media.

The fact that we know it’s horrible for us all, but how little we do about it, is scary.

For some people, like me, it tends to control my self-worth if I’m not careful — and try my best and use it for what I want it for. Reach.

Now, back on it, after a few year break (cause some family had said how many artists get discovered using it), I thought I’d give it another go — using it to help bring my music to those who I feel need to hear it.

Still unconvinced that it does anything but addict and control the narrative of our lives, to help distract us from the important things in life, I wanted to give Social Speedia a bit of a light-hearted feel (but with a serious message underneath it).

For me?

My hope is that we “log out and log off and go do something.”

Like the lyrics explain, real friendships, community, and making in-person connections with others are what’s most important to me in my life right now.

My hope is that Social Speedia starts a conversation around making social media less weaponized to control and shift our attention to a lot of things that really don’t have anything to do with us and our local, community. That, in turn, we should “log out and log off and go do something.”

Because if we’re so involved in other people’s lives, than what is ours for?
