Days 75–76: The Range of the Catalog

The last few days have been a study in contrast—balancing the heavy emotional weight of personal songwriting with the meticulous (and often frustrating) logistics of being an independent artist.

The Creative Shift

I’ve spent most of this project at the piano, but lately, the guitar has been calling. I wrote a melancholic ballad on clean guitar that feels very "Sombr-like." It’s moody, stripped back, and exactly where my head was at. I followed that up today (3/16) with something on the complete opposite end of the spectrum: a slow, laid-back, simple vibe.

Raised By Wolves (3/27)

I officially sent the demo version of Raised By Wolves to DistroKid for a March 27th release. This song is deeply personal—the kind of track you write because you have to, not necessarily because you think every artist will relate to it. But that’s the point of the 2026 Project: showing the full range. I’d rather have these stories out in the world than gathering digital dust on a hard drive.

The Distro Reset

After trying to "tweak" the release of Dire Consequences, I ran into a wall where some changes updated and others didn't, essentially breaking the metadata. The solution? Scorched earth. I had to delete the album and all associated singles, wait for the stores to clear them out, and prepare for a fresh re-upload. It’s a lesson in patience, but the catalog deserves to be represented correctly.

Portland Observations

I took some time to walk around downtown Portland this weekend to clear my head. It’s a strange time for the city—seeing so many empty storefronts and even a library closed down is sobering. It makes the act of creating something new feel a little more vital.

Catalog Audit:

  • Current Song Total: 67

  • New Tracks: 1 melancholic guitar ballad, 2 new guitar song parts, 1 chill/laid-back track.

  • Releases: Raised By Wolves (Demo) scheduled for March 27.

  • Maintenance: Dire Consequences purge complete; awaiting re-upload.

  • Skills: Daily piano practice (revisiting old catalog) and cardio regimen locked in.

About The 2026 Project

The 2026 Project is a year-long commitment to the discipline of daily creation. Throughout 2026, I am writing one song every single day to build a diverse, high-caliber catalog for artists, publishers, and film/TV.
