Making something new from something (really) old.
What a lot of people don’t know, is that I’ve been writing and recording my own music since I graduated high school in 1992. And some of these new songs you’re about to hear for the first time, aren’t new at all. Meaning, a lot of them have been written and recorded decades ago.
It’s pretty shocking, I know. But, since it was pre-internet, most fell on deaf ears. They fell on deaf ears because all I had was a 4-track and a guitar.
I didn’t “know anyone in the industry” or have the technology or tools (or the money) to get them to where each song needed to be.
In fact, my first studio session was for a studio called, “Tongue and Groove” studio in Philadelphia, PA that I paid $500/day for in and around 1996. And a few days in, after the producer kept showing up late, I ran out of money. But I still decided to put it out, through printing and designing my own CDs through Discmakers and CDBaby, even though most of the songs I came up with weren’t close to being done.
But only because I couldn’t, financially, get them to where they needed to go.
Over 30 years later…
So what have I been up to since then?
God. Where do I begin. Let’s come back to that, for now, shall we?
I’ve been through a lot, as one can imagine, since I started writing, playing, and performing as a singer-songwriter over 30 years ago. And, right now, I just feel like I’m just scratching the surface of what some of these songs are, and what they can become, now that I have the tools and resources to get them to where I feel they should be.
At least one that I’m SUPER happy with (and hope you are too). ;)
More to come, soon.
