Behind the 4th single: “The System Has Failed Us” (dropping 01/09/26)
Without much explanation, I think the title of this new single says it all.
Looking back, this particular song started writing itself — after watching some random podcast where billionaire-elite, Elon Musk all of a sudden started talking about population decline and how everyone should be having more kids and…
Before wanting to throw my coffee at the TV after thinking about how little advice this grossly out-of-touch individual should be giving to anyone but himself… I thought, “who the FUCK are you for telling anyone what to do?! I can barely afford rent and you’re telling everyone to have more kids?!” Why…
“So you can have people work for you and make you even more money than you already are?”
And so, that’s kind of where this song initially came from. The anger and frustration that these billionaires have the audacity to tell anyone what to do without their lives (or bodies).”
Being one who really struggled to find any sort of meaningful work for well over a year, having to move on from a successful 10-year copywriting career, before deciding to pursue music again, I felt just like the lyrics say…
“The system has failed us…”
“The top 1% we can’t trust to lead us.”
The joke of all of it, being, as the lyrics say, “they tell us to have more babies, so we can maybe work there, as we lay there on our knees Oh, please!”
Like a lot of these songs, it’s just been a growing anger and frustration of not feeling seen, heard, or understood as to everything the common person is dealing with.
For me, this cathartic release is a response to what all these grossly out-of-touch billionaires want us all to do…
“Just lay there, on our bare knees.”
My response? Besides, “fu** you?!”
Oh, please (and that’s saying it nicely)! ;)
